About Lazarus Guitars
I'm Dave, and I run Lazarus Guitars.
More than 21 years ago, I started this journey because I couldn't afford the guitars I wanted. So I picked up the broken, discarded ones—the high-end models people had given up on—and learned to fix them myself. Neck resets, refrets, finishes, wiring: I tried, failed often, and kept going. Mistakes were part of it. Each one showed me something new, and ive never stopped, That's how skill grows—through persistence and caring enough to stick with it.
Over time, I saw something clear: many of these revived "budget" guitars played and sounded every bit as good if not better than instruments supposedly worth thousands. it finally clicked, you don't need the name or the price tag for something truly great. That changed my view of what matters.
Now I do more than repair. I aim to make each one the best it can possible be—choosing exotic woods, inlays, dyes that highlight the grain—so it looks as right as it plays. Beauty draws you in; it makes you want to pick it up. But deeper than that, I try to bring back what the guitar was always meant to be: its character, its soul, given a honest second chance.
If you have a beat-up or forgotten guitar, or one that just needs care, reach out. I'd like to hear about it and see if I can help.
Thanks for reading.
